College of Defence Management Hosts Symposium on AI & Autonomous Systems in Hyderabad
The College of Defence Management, Secunderabad, in collaboration with ISB Hyderabad, recently organized a symposium titled “AI & Autonomous Systems – The Disruptive Warfighting.” The event brought together experts to discuss key topics including AI in Defence, data fusion, autonomous systems, robotics, digital twins, and the challenges and strategies relevant to an AI-driven battlespace.
Discussions offered clear insights into how AI applications will shape future warfare. The symposium stressed the urgent need for defence forces to update doctrines and strategies to keep pace with emerging technologies. Ethical AI, battlefield autonomy, AI in space, cognitive AI, and countering AI threats were among the critical themes addressed, underscoring the need for innovation and preparedness in military technology.

Record Defence Production Growth
Alongside the symposium, a significant milestone in India’s defence production was announced. The annual output for FY 2024-25 reached a record Rs 1,50,590 crore, marking an 18% increase over the previous fiscal year’s Rs 1.27 lakh crore. This is a 90% rise since FY 2019-20, which recorded Rs 79,071 crore.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the Department of Defence Production along with Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs), public sector manufacturers, and private industry for their combined efforts to achieve this growth. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for steering India towards becoming a global defence manufacturing hub.
On his social media platform X, Singh highlighted the achievement: “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi, India’s defence production has hit a record high! The annual defence production has soared to an all-time high figure of Rs 1,50,590 crore in the Financial Year (FY) 2024-25. These numbers indicate a robust 18% growth over the previous fiscal’s output of Rs 1.27 lakh crore, and a staggering 90% increase since FY 2019-20, when the figure was Rs 79,071 crore.”
