AI and Innovation Highlighted at Human Resources Forum in Salalah

The 11th Human Resources Development Conference kicked off at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah. The two-day event centers on the theme ‘Developing Human Resources through Training and Qualification’, with a particular focus on innovation and artificial intelligence (AI).

Held under the patronage of H H Sayyid Marwan bin Turki al Said, Governor of Dhofar, the conference gathers officials, experts, and specialists from Oman and abroad. The discussions revolve around preparing the workforce to meet the demands of the future labor market in alignment with Oman Vision 2040.

Fostering National Talent for Future Needs

The conference aims to equip Omani talent with the skills necessary to adapt to changing labor market requirements. It also provides a platform for exchanging expertise on how innovation and AI can improve professional training and qualifications.

During the opening session, H E Sayyid Salim bin Muslim al Busaidi, Undersecretary for Human Resources Development at the Ministry of Labour, emphasized that investing in human capital is key to sustainable development and economic transformation. Strengthening national competencies contributes to better quality of life, job creation, and advancing towards a knowledge-based society capable of adapting to global changes.

Integrating Training with Market Needs

Naif bin Hamed Fadhel, Chairman of Dhofar branch of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) and representative of the conference’s organising committee, underlined the importance of aligning training systems with labor market needs. He called for a unified national strategy to equip the workforce with critical analytical and innovation skills.

  • Sheikh Mohammed bin Sulaiman al Kindi, Governor of North Batinah, presented on human development policies at the governorate level.
  • Mohammed bin Hamoud al Naabi, CEO of Oman Energy Association (OPAL), discussed the coordination between government bodies, training institutions, and professional associations.

Conference Activities and Recognition

The first day included a panel discussion on sustainable human development and a workshop focused on training needs analysis. The event also featured a ceremony recognizing the contributions of speakers and sponsors.

The annual conference is organised by Al Assayel Conferences in partnership with the Ministry of Labour, Dhofar Governor’s Office, and Dhofar branch of OCCI.
