Firms Introduce AI Training and Donate Lab Equipment to Bauchi Schools
TechWomen, in collaboration with PanAfricare, has launched an Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology initiative aimed at benefiting the North East region of Nigeria. Through their INSPIRE Project—Innovation, STEM, and Partnerships for Inclusive and Relevant Education—they donated laboratory equipment to two government schools in Bauchi State.
The INSPIRE Project, funded by the ExxonMobil Foundation, is designed to provide students across Nigeria with technology and AI skills aligned with global standards. This initiative supports 14 public secondary schools across six states, delivering essential tools, training, and mentorship to improve science and technology education. It prioritizes inclusion, focusing on girls and students with disabilities who often face educational disadvantages.
Building Inclusive STEM Education
Damilola Ade, a lead on the INSPIRE Project, emphasized that the program brings global expertise and a passion for inclusion directly into classrooms. The goal is to empower students to dream bigger, learn better, and compete on an international level.
“Innovation must be inclusive to create lasting impact,” she said. “Our work bridges the digital divide and introduces students to coding, robotics, 3D printing, and immersive technologies, preparing them for future opportunities.”
The project has made significant progress, carefully selecting beneficiary schools in consultation with State Ministries of Education and Universal Basic Education. The states involved include Bauchi, Kaduna, Lagos, Abia, Rivers, and the Federal Capital Territory.
Support from PanAfricare and Government Officials
Dr. Patrick Adah, PanAfricare’s Country Director, represented by Benjamin Agber, highlighted the alignment between the INSPIRE Project and the Federal Government’s vision for STEM education. The initiative aims to boost academic performance in science subjects and encourage students to pursue STEM-related careers.
“STEM education drives creativity and innovation, leading to practical solutions for real-world challenges,” Agber said. “The INSPIRE Project equips schools, teachers, and students with hands-on learning tools that make education more relevant and engaging.”
Each participating school receives an INSPIRE Box containing a comprehensive STEM toolkit. This includes 3D printers, robotics kits, laptops, science kits for junior and senior students, and augmented reality learning tools.
State-Level Commitment to STEM
Bauchi State’s Commissioner of Education, represented by Prof. Yalam Madugu, Special Advisor on technical education, confirmed that the state government under Governor Bala Mohammed prioritizes STEM education. He expressed gratitude to the organisations for including Bauchi among the beneficiaries.
This initiative marks a practical step towards equipping Nigerian students with the skills needed to thrive in technology-driven fields. For educators interested in expanding AI and STEM learning, exploring specialized training can provide valuable support. Resources such as Complete AI Training’s latest AI courses offer practical pathways to bring AI education into classrooms effectively.
