AI Transformation Guide for Caribbean Tourism
The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) has released the Artificial Intelligence Transformation Guide for Caribbean Tourism: Version 2.0. This updated resource offers practical advice for hospitality and tourism professionals in the Caribbean, helping them adopt AI technologies while maintaining the region’s distinctive warmth and cultural richness.
Led by CHTA’s Technology Task Force and Co-Chair Christus Gill, this expanded guide builds on the original 2024 edition. It includes new case studies, emerging AI trends, and real-world applications across hotels and resorts in the Caribbean. The guide also addresses data readiness, sustainable AI use, and ethical governance.
“AI is no longer on the horizon – it’s here,” said CHTA President Sanovnik Destang. “This second edition reflects CHTA’s commitment to support members in growing their digital capabilities. It equips Caribbean tourism stakeholders with tools to thrive as technology reshapes hospitality globally.”
Core Sections of the Guide
The guide is organized into five key sections:
- Foundations of AI and emerging technologies
- Hospitality-specific use cases such as guest personalization, predictive maintenance, and energy optimization
- Responsible AI adoption, data privacy, and governance
- Change management and staff empowerment
- Emerging trends like AI agents, robotics, and voice interfaces
CHTA stresses that AI should support people, not replace them. It is a tool to assist teams, improve operations, and enhance guest experiences. Businesses are encouraged to adopt AI at a pace that fits their resources, culture, and brand identity.
“AI can feel overwhelming at first, but it’s really about making life easier for your team and your guests,” said Christus Gill. “This guide offers approachable tips and examples that address common challenges in Caribbean hospitality. Even small steps can lead to meaningful improvements in service, efficiency, and competitiveness.”
Additional Tech Resources through CHTA Partnerships
Beyond the AI guide, CHTA members gain access to technology tools and insights via partnerships with the Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP) and Growth Advisors International Network (GAIN). These collaborations provide educational content, expert sessions, and discounts on global platforms and tech events. The goal is to support sustainable digital transformation throughout the Caribbean hospitality sector.
