This initiative spans six months and targets students and faculty members at public institutions affiliated with AICTE. The goal is to boost digital skills, improve employability, and encourage practical use of artificial intelligence (AI) in education.

Integrating AI into Higher Education

AICTE Chairman TG Sitharam highlighted the importance of embedding AI across all academic disciplines. He stated, "AI is not just transforming technology, it's redefining how we shape the future of our technical workforce." The partnership with OpenAI supports this strategy by making advanced digital tools available for hands-on, industry-relevant training for both students and faculty.

OpenAI's Role in Enhancing AI Education

OpenAI contributes by providing access to its advanced AI tools and computing resources, which help make AI education more accessible. According to Sitharam, these tools will accelerate innovation and improve learning experiences, fostering a future-ready technical ecosystem for educational institutions.

Ministry of Education's Efforts to Promote AI Learning

In addition to the AICTE initiative, the Ministry of Education has launched five free AI courses accessible to school and college students as well as working professionals. Developed by professors from top IITs, these courses are available on the SWAYAM portal. Registration is straightforward and there are no fees involved.
