Artificial Intelligence Application for Museums: Transforming Cultural Heritage and Learning Experiences

Abstract

This study examines how artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping museums by improving accessibility, interaction, and the overall experience of cultural heritage. AI accelerates the digital transformation of museums, making visits more engaging and personalized while supporting the preservation and sharing of cultural artifacts.

The research uses qualitative methods, including descriptive content analysis. It gathers insights from 110 university students across Kazakhstan, Korea, China, Turkey, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and India through semi-structured interviews. The data is analyzed using QDA Miner Lite software to ensure thorough understanding.

The focus is on how AI applications in museums facilitate access to cultural heritage spanning past and present civilizations. It highlights AI’s role in making museum visits more interactive and appealing for people from diverse cultural backgrounds. The study also explores how digitizing cultural identity affects individuals and the innovations AI introduces into museum education and information processes.

The primary goal is to increase awareness of AI’s role in museum applications and emphasize the vital link between technology and cultural heritage. It also aims to show how AI contributes to preserving cultural heritage for future generations. The findings support the expectation that AI will increasingly be integrated into museums, improving preservation and transmission efforts.

Finally, the research offers projections and recommendations for the future of AI-supported museology, encouraging further exploration and adoption of these technologies.
