Box and AWS team up on agentic AI to put enterprise content to work

Announced November 17, 2025, Box and AWS signed a multi-year collaboration to help organizations use AI agents securely across their content. The focus: turn contracts, plans, and knowledge locked in files into automated workflows and actionable insights. For leaders, this is about speed, accuracy, and governance-without lifting your current stack out by the roots.

What's new

  • Box AI agents on Amazon Bedrock: Automate content-heavy tasks-summarize long documents, generate multi-document FAQs, extract metadata for search and compliance, and build intelligent workflows. Teams can choose and customize models within Bedrock for specific business needs.
  • Multimodal analysis with Amazon Nova Multimodal Embeddings: Analyze text, images, video, and audio stored in Box for unified insight and smarter automation.
  • Amazon Quick Suite integration (available today): Work with Box content directly inside Quick Suite via the Box remote MCP server-extract insights, generate files, and take action without switching tools.
  • Amazon Q Developer customization (available today): Use the Box SDK and a self-hosted MCP server to build AI-driven apps and automate content-centric workflows faster.
  • Agent orchestration (available today): Compatibility for Amazon Strands, Kiro, and Amazon Bedrock AgentCore with the Box SDK to coordinate agents, connectors, and Box's Intelligent Content Management platform.

Why it matters for management

Content is the source of truth for decisions, compliance, and customer experience. This collaboration aims to reduce manual review cycles, shrink time-to-answer, and standardize processes across teams-especially helpful in regulated industries that need high security, resiliency, and strict compliance.

Box builds on its existing enterprise-grade AI work with Anthropic Claude and Amazon Titan, now leaning into agentic workflows that meet security and governance needs. The result: fewer swivel-chair tasks and more consistent execution across the content lifecycle.

"AI is only as powerful as the context it can access," said Aaron Levie, Co-Founder and CEO of Box. "By collaborating with AWS, we're giving customers a secure, scalable foundation to turn their content into a competitive advantage."

"Today AI agents are transforming how we work," said Swami Sivasubramanian, Vice President of Agentic AI at AWS. "Through our Box collaboration, we're excited to help customers securely leverage their valuable business content with agentic capabilities."

Procurement and timing

Box will be available in AWS Marketplace for qualified customers in early 2026. This should speed up purchasing, deployment, and budget alignment inside AWS environments-useful for teams standardizing on cloud marketplaces.

How this shows up in your stack

  • Use Box as the secure content layer and AWS for agent logic, model choice, and orchestration.
  • Run summarization, redaction, tagging, and Q&A directly on governed content in Box.
  • Trigger automated workflows from multimodal signals (e.g., video call recordings, design files, compliance docs).

Action steps for leaders

  • Pick 2-3 high-friction workflows (RFP response, policy updates, onboarding packs, audit prep) and scope them for automation using Box AI + Bedrock.
  • Define guardrails with Legal, Security, and Compliance: data residency, retention, audit trail, and human-in-the-loop thresholds.
  • Standardize prompts and workflows in the Box SDK with Amazon Q Developer to cut variance across teams.
  • Measure ROI: cycle time reduction, review hours saved, error rates, and time-to-publish for content updates.
  • Plan procurement via AWS Marketplace if your org centralizes cloud spend or needs committed-use alignment.
