Canary Technologies Secures $80M to Advance AI in Hospitality

San Francisco-based Canary Technologies announced an $80 million Series D funding round to accelerate the global growth of its AI solutions tailored for the hospitality industry. This latest investment values the company at approximately $600 million.

Brighton Park Capital led the round, with participation from existing investors including Insight Partners, F-Prime Capital, Thayer Ventures, Y-Combinator, and Commerce Ventures. This follows a $50 million Series C round just a year ago, also aimed at expanding Canary’s AI-driven hotel technologies.

AI Solutions Shaped by Hotel Operations

Canary’s co-founder and President, SJ Sawhney, emphasized that their technology is built around the daily workflows of hoteliers. With partnerships spanning major hospitality groups such as BWH Hotels, Aimbridge Hospitality, Marriott International, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, and TUI Hotels & Resorts, Canary supports over 20,000 hotels worldwide across more than 100 countries.

CEO Harman Singh Narula highlighted that the hospitality sector is entering a new phase powered by artificial intelligence, driven by strong demand for smart, operational tools.

Innovations in Guest Engagement and Service Automation

  • Earlier this year, Canary introduced its AI Voice platform, which handles guest calls and responds to requests automatically. According to Aman Shahi, Vice President of Product, this technology has potential applications in nearly every hotel.
  • Canary partnered with Wyndham to launch a guest engagement platform that debuted last summer, improving communication and service delivery.
  • The company also provides digital tipping solutions to partners including Marriott and IHG Hotels & Resorts, enhancing guest convenience.

Other industry moves include Sabre's $1.1 billion sale of its hospitality technology unit and Choice Hotels International’s CIO Brian Kirkland calling generative AI a disruptive force with broad business implications.

As AI continues to integrate into hospitality operations, professionals in the field may find value in expanding their knowledge through specialized training. For those interested in exploring practical AI applications, courses are available at Complete AI Training.
