Channel 24 Website Editor Resigns Over AI News Feed Plans
Anastasia Zazuliak, editor of the 24 Kanal website, resigned along with three deputies after management proposed replacing some journalists with an automated AI news feed. Natalia Bodnar, Veronika Havrylenko, and Emal Nabi left with her.
Zazuliak said the team disagreed with the holding's development strategy and vision for the project's future. "We decided to end our collaboration with the Channel 24 website," she said in a statement.
What the Editor Says About AI Tools
Zazuliak acknowledged that the newsroom already uses AI tools to assist editors, but she pushed back against the idea that machines should replace reporting. "The editorial team's role doesn't end there," she said. "The value of people will always outweigh that of any machine; human-written texts will always have the advantage."
She emphasized that AI tools require time for proper implementation and should support rather than substitute for journalistic work.
Management's Response
Roman Andreiko, CEO of TRK Lux, denied that the resignations relate to artificial intelligence or staff cuts. He said a new website editor will be appointed soon.
The Reliability Question
Research from the European Broadcasting Union found that popular AI assistants regularly make errors in news content across multiple languages. The findings suggest AI cannot serve as a dependable news source.
For AI for Writers and those interested in how generative AI and LLM technology is reshaping editorial work, this case illustrates the friction between automation and editorial judgment.
Zazuliak said her team plans to pursue new professional opportunities focused on socially important projects.
