Chinese high school demonstrates robotics and AI in classroom setting
The Experimental High School Attached to UESTC in Chengdu held a science education event where middle school students presented work with robots, virtual reality and AI systems. The showcase included student-built VEX robots, robotic dogs and demonstrations of brain-computer interfaces.
Middle school students designed and programmed VEX robots that have won multiple competition championships. One student-built basketball-shooting robot uses visual recognition to locate the hoop and automatically calculates angle and force, achieving 95% accuracy.
The event featured student-controlled spider robots and simulated flight challenges. The school's RoboCun team has won multiple domestic and international titles.
Other demonstrations included ultrasonic directional speakers and brain-computer interface experiments. The activities align with China's "AI + Education" initiative, which promotes integration of education, technology and talent development.
For educators, these demonstrations show how robotics and AI systems can work in secondary education. AI for Education resources cover how schools are implementing similar technologies in classrooms.
