CHTA Launches AI Guidebook 2.0 for Caribbean Tourism Businesses
The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) has released the Artificial Intelligence Transformation Guide for Caribbean Tourism: Version 2.0. This updated resource supports Caribbean hospitality and tourism businesses in adopting AI in a practical, people-centered way while maintaining the region’s cultural warmth.
Led by CHTA’s Technology Task Force and Co-Chair Christus Gill, the new edition builds on the original 2024 guide. It includes fresh case studies, emerging AI trends, and real-world examples from hotels and resorts across the Caribbean. The guide also provides detailed strategies for data preparation, sustainable AI use, and ethical governance.
“AI is no longer on the horizon—it’s here,” said CHTA President Sanovnik Destang. “This second edition reflects CHTA’s commitment to help members grow and stay digitally ready. Our goal is to equip Caribbean tourism stakeholders with tools that help them thrive as technology reshapes hospitality.”
What’s Inside the Guide?
The guide is organized into five key sections that cover:
- Foundations of AI and related technologies
- Hospitality-specific use cases like guest personalization, predictive maintenance, and energy optimization
- Responsible adoption, including data privacy and governance
- Change management and empowering staff
- Emerging trends such as AI agents, robotics, and voice interfaces
CHTA stresses that AI is a tool to support hospitality teams—not a replacement. It’s meant to streamline operations and improve guest experiences. Businesses are encouraged to adopt AI at a pace and scale that fits their resources, culture, and brand identity.
“AI can seem overwhelming at first, but the goal is to make life easier for both staff and guests,” said Christus Gill. “This guide offers clear, approachable tips and examples that address daily challenges in Caribbean tourism. Even small steps with AI can improve service quality, efficiency, and competitiveness.”
Additional Tech Resources Through CHTA Partnerships
Beyond the AI guide, CHTA members gain access to technology-focused tools and insights through partnerships with Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP) and the Growth Advisors International Network (GAIN). These partnerships provide educational content, expert-led sessions, and discounts on global platforms and tech events—helping businesses sustain digital growth.
