CII and NUS-ISS Launch AI Governance Programme for Indian Executives

The Confederation of Indian Industry and the National University of Singapore's Institute of Systems Science have signed a partnership to deliver executive training on artificial intelligence governance and digital leadership. The two organisations will run the "Leadership Programme on Artificial Intelligence and Governance" twice yearly through 2028, targeting board members, CEOs, and senior decision-makers.

The agreement was signed at the CII Annual Business Summit in New Delhi on May 12, with Singapore's High Commissioner to India and Andhra Pradesh's Chief Minister in attendance. More than 65 Indian executives have already completed pilot versions of the programme in Singapore since November 2024.

What the Programme Covers

The certification focuses on four core areas: AI governance, digital strategy, cybersecurity, and emerging technology leadership. It targets executives responsible for steering their organisations through digital transformation.

Chandrajit Banerjee, Director-General of CII, said the partnership addresses a specific need: "India's growth journey will increasingly be shaped by how effectively industry leaders embrace digital transformation and AI-led innovation." CII aims to train more than 100 executives by the end of 2026.

Expansion Plans

The Global Leadership Centre of CII, based in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh, will coordinate the joint programmes. Both organisations plan to explore additional collaboration in digital upskilling, including specialised training for industry professionals and knowledge exchange between India and Singapore.

Khoong Chan Meng, CEO of NUS-ISS, said: "As AI rapidly reshapes businesses and economies, leaders must understand both the opportunities and governance implications of AI adoption."

Context

NUS-ISS has trained over 210,000 digital professionals across 9,400 corporate clients since its establishment in 1981. The institute delivers programmes taught by instructors with an average of more than 20 years of industry experience.
