COVU launches AI operating system to automate insurance agency workflows

COVU launches AI-native operating system for insurance distribution

COVU has launched COVU OS, a new operating layer designed to automate how insurance agencies handle service requests and operational workflows. The platform routes inbound requests to the appropriate execution layer - whether that's AI agents, licensed professionals, or offshore support teams - based on cost, compliance requirements and complexity.

The system addresses a concrete operational problem. Independent agencies typically spend 50% to 70% of their resources servicing existing policies while operating on 20% to 25% EBITDA margins. A mid-sized agency managing 10,000 policies processes roughly 100,000 service transactions annually, many still handled manually through email and disconnected handoffs.

How it works

COVU OS converts service requests into structured tasks and learns from each outcome. By organizing work at the task level, agencies can monitor real-time metrics including cost per task, time to resolution, escalation frequency and workload distribution.

The platform sits at the center of COVU's broader operating stack, which includes tools for underwriting, policy management, distribution and capital.

Early performance

COVU OS is live across dozens of agencies. In its first 30 days, the system processed more than 150,000 tasks across 230 task types spanning over 50 insurance lines. Customer satisfaction scored 4.77 out of 5.

Cost reductions are substantial. A certificate of insurance request - typically costing the industry $10 to $15 and taking 44 minutes - now costs under $2 and takes minutes through COVU OS.

Ali Safavi, COVU's founder and CEO, said the missing piece in agency modernization was never better software. "It was an operating layer that actually runs the work," he said. "COVU OS is that layer. It takes every service request, breaks it into structured tasks, routes each one to the right execution layer and learns from every outcome."

The economics improve as more workflows move onto the platform. Agencies can reserve licensed staff for work that requires human expertise while automation handles routine operations.
