Fast Cover deploys AI claims platform in Australia

Fast Cover, a Sydney-based travel insurance provider, has moved an AI-powered claims management system into production in partnership with insurtech company Five Sigma. The platform, which went live in April, automates routine claims tasks and provides decision support to Fast Cover's claims team.

Travel insurance claims require handling across multiple geographies and claim types-medical emergencies, trip cancellations, baggage loss, and travel disruptions. Speed matters. Fast Cover identified a gap between customer expectations for quick resolution and its existing claims infrastructure.

The Five Sigma platform includes Clive, an AI system that works within the claims workflow to automate adjuster tasks, suggest next steps, and flag compliance issues. Fast Cover's claims professionals retain oversight of all decisions.

"From the moment a customer lodges a claim through to final settlement, our claims team is supported by AI to streamline the claim process and reduce delays," said Dean van Es, CEO at Fast Cover. "Every decision is overseen by experienced claims professionals."

The deployment marks Five Sigma's first production rollout in the Australian travel insurance market. The system integrates with local payment infrastructure and Lloyd's bordereaux reporting requirements.

Five Sigma's platform is built as a SaaS claims management system for property and casualty insurers, managing general agents, third-party administrators, and reinsurers. The company reports that customers typically see cost reductions, faster processing times, and higher accuracy rates.

Fast Cover was founded in 2010 and serves over one million policyholders. The company offers cover for overseas medical emergencies, trip cancellations, delays, and lost luggage, with 24/7 emergency assistance and local claims handling.

For insurance professionals managing claims operations, this deployment shows how AI can reduce manual workload on routine tasks while maintaining human oversight of final decisions. Learn more about AI for Insurance or explore AI Agents & Automation for similar use cases.
