French Government Delegation Visits Lunit to Discuss Medical AI Investment

Officials from France's General Secretariat for Investment visited medical AI company Lunit's Seoul headquarters on Monday to discuss potential cooperation in European public healthcare. The delegation, led by Bruno Bonnell, Secretary General of the SGPI under the French Prime Minister's Office, explored investment directions for medical AI technology with Lunit leadership.

The visit follows a summit between South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and French President Emmanuel Macron that elevated ties between the nations to a global strategic partnership. Both countries committed to strengthening cooperation in AI and quantum computing.

Who Attended

Bonnell's delegation included Catherine Simon, a robotics expert; Mathieu Brandibat, raw materials expert; Marion Dos Reis Silva, chief of staff and communications director; and commercial representatives from the French Embassy in Korea.

Bonnell, a former National Assembly member and digital industry leader, was appointed by President Macron to oversee France 2030, a €54 billion national investment program supporting energy, AI, and bio-health sectors.

What Was Discussed

Lunit CEO Brandon Suh presented the company's medical AI technology, global business operations, and European market development. Both sides discussed investment policies and directions for medical AI in France and Europe's public healthcare systems.

"As Korea and France establish a global strategic partnership, it is significant that SGPI visited us to discuss medical AI," Suh said. "We will build on this visit to maximize the value of Lunit's AI technology in the public healthcare sector across France and Europe."

Lunit's European Footprint

Lunit has already established operations in France. Last year, the company became a supplier of breast cancer diagnostic AI solutions through a UniHA tender, gaining access to more than 1,500 public hospitals.

A partnership with imaging network Groupe VIDI extended Lunit's reach to approximately 400 additional medical institutions across France.

For government professionals overseeing AI for Government initiatives or AI for Healthcare, this visit signals how bilateral partnerships can accelerate medical technology adoption in public systems.
