Bringing Advanced AI Tools to College Students for Free

As millions of college students prepare to start their academic year, new opportunities are emerging to support their learning experience. Leading AI tools are now available for free to college students in several countries, including the U.S., Japan, Indonesia, Korea, and Brazil. This initiative aims to provide practical AI assistance that can help students with homework, research, coding, and more.

In addition to offering AI tools, there is a commitment of $1 billion to fund AI education, job training, and research programs across the United States. Over 100 colleges and universities have already joined the AI for Education Accelerator, which grants free AI and career training to every college student in America.

Access to Top AI Tools

Starting immediately, eligible students can sign up for a free 12-month Google AI Pro plan. The plan includes:

  • Gemini 2.5 Pro: A powerful AI model that answers questions and can analyze images to assist with homework and writing tasks.
  • Deep Research: Generate detailed research reports from hundreds of sources quickly, saving valuable study time.
  • NotebookLM: An AI companion that helps organize ideas, now enhanced with five times more audio and video content.
  • Veo 3: Create 8-second videos with sound from text or photos to support creative projects.
  • Jules: An AI coding assistant that fixes bugs and builds features asynchronously, now with higher usage limits.
  • 2 TB of Storage: Ample space for notes, projects, photos, and documents across Google Photos, Drive, and Gmail.

This offer will soon expand to more countries. Students can learn more or sign up before October 6 to take advantage of the free plan.

Guided Learning: Moving Beyond Simple Answers

AI can do more than provide quick answers. The new Guided Learning mode in Gemini supports students in building skills by guiding them through problems step-by-step. Developed with input from educators and learning experts, this mode focuses on comprehension and critical thinking.

Students can use Guided Learning for tasks such as solving complex math problems, structuring essays, preparing for tests, and more. Additional tools include multimodal responses featuring images, videos, and interactive quizzes. Teachers can also easily share these resources with their students.

$1 Billion Investment in AI Education and Training

The current generation of students will be the first to grow up fully immersed in AI technology. To support their transition into the workforce and future careers, significant funding is being directed toward AI literacy and training programs in American higher education.

This $1 billion investment over three years covers AI education initiatives, research grants, and cloud computing resources. The Google AI for Education Accelerator provides free AI training and Google Career Certificates to students nationwide. Major public universities, including the University of Michigan, The Ohio State University, and the University of Virginia, are already participating.

More than 80% of the top 100 U.S. universities use Google Workspace for Education, which includes AI tools tailored for schools. These resources help students and educators integrate AI into learning effectively and responsibly.

Supporting Student Success with AI

Providing students with access to advanced AI technology, combined with training and infrastructure support, equips them to adapt and thrive in a changing educational and professional landscape. This approach encourages students to develop new skills and creativity with AI tools, preparing them for future opportunities.

For educators interested in AI training resources, Complete AI Training offers a range of courses and certifications designed to enhance AI knowledge and practical skills.

These initiatives mark a significant step in making AI accessible and useful in education, helping students gain confidence and competence with emerging technologies.
