Hanwha Takes Center Stage at Defense Summit as Allies Rethink AI Strategy

Hanwha participated in the 23rd International Institute for Strategic Studies Asia Security Summit in Singapore last week, where defense ministers, military leaders and industry executives discussed how allied nations should strengthen military readiness amid geopolitical uncertainty.

The three-day summit, known as the Shangri-La Dialogue, is one of the world's most prominent defense and security forums. This year's agenda centered on three priorities: strengthening alliances, expanding defense industrial capacity and integrating artificial intelligence into defense systems.

Allies Shift From Imports to Domestic Production

A dominant theme across the summit was the need for partner nations to build defense manufacturing capability at home rather than rely on traditional export relationships.

Delegates emphasized expanding production capacity across allied countries, particularly in long-range strike systems and other critical defense technologies. Hanwha said its existing ability to manufacture defense platforms at scale across land and maritime domains positions it to contribute to those efforts.

Hanwha engaged with senior officials from the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore and other countries, as well as executives from major global defense firms.

AI Integration Becomes Strategic Priority

Defense leaders identified accelerating AI integration as central to maintaining allied military advantage. The company said its investments in AI technologies align with this strategic shift.

For executives developing strategy around defense industrial partnerships and military technology, understanding how allied nations are approaching AI integration and domestic production capacity matters directly to investment and partnership decisions.
