University of Phoenix Releases 2025 Report on Workforce Learning and Human + AI Collaboration
The University of Phoenix has published a new report titled 2025 Generative AI Report: Learning Fuels Human + AI Collaboration, revealing key insights on how organizations are adopting generative AI in workforce learning. Based on a national survey of over 600 HR leaders and employees, the report highlights the growing role of AI in talent development and offers practical strategies for HR and L&D professionals to prepare their workforce for the future.
Key Findings: AI is Changing Learning and Development
The report shows a sharp increase in the use of generative AI tools among learning leaders, with adoption rising from 40% in 2024 to 74% in 2025. These tools are being used to improve learning operations, spark innovation, and redesign how employees engage with learning content.
Companies integrating generative AI alongside skills analytics, remote learning, microlearning, and immersive simulations are better positioned to place the right talent in the right roles efficiently.
From Task Automation to Human + AI Partnership
Instead of simply automating tasks, employees are moving toward co-creating with AI. Nearly half of HR leaders and 39% of workers want to develop skills that allow them to collaborate directly with AI tools and oversee AI outputs, reflecting a shift toward more integrated human-AI workflows.
Challenges: Gender Gap and Policy Clarity
- The report identifies a gender gap in AI usage: 63% of men use generative AI tools monthly or more at work, compared to only 47% of women.
- Workers express concerns about unclear AI usage policies, which is their top worry regarding AI adoption in the workplace.
Addressing these concerns is essential. Leaders should create environments where employees feel safe discussing AI fears and provide training on how to collaborate effectively with AI tools as part of their teams.
AI Use Boosts Productivity and Well-Being
Aligned with findings from the University’s 2025 Career Optimism Index®, the report confirms that using generative AI at work enhances both employee productivity and well-being. These positive effects emphasize the value of adopting AI thoughtfully within learning and development programs.
