Hyperscale Data Expands Michigan Campus Into AI Data Center and Robotics Hub

Hyperscale Data is converting its Michigan facility into a combined AI data center and robotics manufacturing site, following a partnership with robotics developer Agibot. The company will reconfigure its 34.5-acre campus to handle high-performance computing, robotics assembly, testing, and real-world data generation.

The site currently operates at 30 megawatts of power capacity. Hyperscale Data plans to scale beyond 300 megawatts over time to support the expanded operations.

What the Expansion Includes

Hyperscale Data will dedicate more than 100,000 square feet to AI and robotics work. This space will house testing environments for robotic systems and infrastructure for generating real-world data used to train and validate AI models.

The company expects to hire more than 500 employees over three years. Positions will span robotics engineering, AI data operations, and infrastructure roles.

Why This Matters for Operations

The project reflects a shift in how companies approach AI development. Organizations increasingly need physical systems alongside computing infrastructure to generate the real-world data required for training and validating models.

CEO William B. Horne said the expansion positions the company "to support evolving AI workloads while creating high-quality jobs in the region."

For operations professionals, this signals growing demand for facilities that integrate compute, robotics, and data generation. Managing such environments requires expertise in both infrastructure scaling and physical systems coordination - areas where AI for Operations skills are becoming essential.
