Indonesian Government Urges Universities to Build Ethically Strong Digital Talent for AI Era
Jakarta – The Indonesian government has called on universities to take the lead in developing digital talent equipped with strong ethical foundations, ready to meet the demands of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. This initiative was highlighted by Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid during the 13th anniversary of Kosgoro 1957 Institute of Business and Informatics (IBI) in Jakarta.
"We want AI and other advanced technologies to serve as tools for the creativity of our nation's youth, not just be dominated by major powers," Hafid said. She invited universities to join forces in this effort, emphasizing the critical role of higher education institutions in preparing students.

The minister pointed out that Indonesia has made significant progress in building digital infrastructure over recent years. Now, the priority is to develop human resources capable of leveraging this infrastructure effectively.
"Digital transformation depends on skilled human resources who can face current and future challenges. Without them, infrastructure alone won’t achieve the intended impact," Hafid explained.

- Memoranda of understanding (MoUs) have been signed between the ministry and PPK Kosgoro 1957 as well as between the ministry's Human Resources Development Agency and IBI Kosgoro 1957.

"Partnering with educational institutions is essential to cultivate a digital generation that is skilled and socially responsible," Hafid emphasized. She added that the government alone cannot achieve this goal and needs universities and students to actively participate in creating a secure and efficient digital environment.
