ISACA Introduces Advanced AI Security Management Certification

ISACA has launched a new certification called Advanced in AI Security Management (AAISM), aimed at professionals managing enterprise AI solutions. This credential validates the ability to implement AI technologies while effectively identifying, assessing, and mitigating associated risks.

Core Areas of the AAISM Credential

The certification focuses on three main domains:

  • AI Governance and Program Management
  • AI Risk Management
  • AI Technologies and Controls

Each domain covers essential skills and knowledge needed to manage AI securely within an organization.

AI Governance and Program Management

This area covers understanding stakeholder needs, regulatory requirements, and industry frameworks relevant to AI. It includes developing AI strategies, policies, and procedures, managing AI assets and data life cycles, and establishing AI security programs. Business continuity planning and incident response related to AI systems are also key components.

AI Risk Management

Certification holders demonstrate competence in identifying and managing risks, threats, and vulnerabilities linked to AI adoption across an enterprise. This includes conducting AI risk assessments, setting risk thresholds, and implementing risk treatment plans. Vendor and supply chain risk management specific to AI technologies form part of this domain.

AI Technologies and Controls

This segment focuses on securing AI systems through appropriate technologies and controls. It confirms knowledge of AI security architecture, data management, and privacy considerations. Ethical, trust, and safety controls are also emphasized, alongside security monitoring practices tailored for AI environments.

Industry Perspectives

ISACA’s CEO highlighted the organization’s commitment to providing AI-focused training and certifications that prepare IT audit and security professionals to manage AI responsibly while advancing their careers.

Goh Ser Yoong, head of compliance at ADVANCE.AI and member of ISACA advisory groups, noted that the AAISM credential complements existing security certifications with a focus on AI, equipping security leaders to meet evolving challenges.

Certification Details

The AAISM joins ISACA’s Advanced in AI Audit credential, which is available to audit professionals holding a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or equivalent certification. The AAISM is earned by passing an exam administered by ISACA.

ISACA provides exam preparation materials and educational resources on its website to support candidates.
