Free conference examines AI's role in schools
Jersey College for Girls will host a one-day conference on 26 June to examine how artificial intelligence is changing teaching and learning. The free event, sponsored by R3nquist, will run separate programmes for educators, Year 12 students, and parents.
The educators' programme is open to teachers from all schools. It will feature keynote talks and workshops from three specialists: Dr Kaitlyn Regehr, associate professor of digital humanities at University College London; Amelia King, director of digital transformation at Dulwich College London; and Dominik Lukes, an AI consultant at Oxford University's Centre for AI Competency.
Teachers will discuss current research on AI literacy, practical approaches to teaching with AI, and education's role in what organisers call a "cognitive revolution."
The student programme focuses on using AI for learning, preparing for an AI-driven future, and the environmental impact of AI in schools. King will deliver a separate presentation for parents titled "Thinking with AI."
Simon Lewis, assistant headteacher at JCG, said the conference will address preparing students for an AI-driven future, the science of learning with AI, and innovative uses of AI in developing teaching materials.
Educators interested in AI for Education may also benefit from structured AI Learning Path for Teachers resources.
