Kerala Introduces AI and Robotics Education for All Class X Students

The Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) has announced a new initiative to provide artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics education to every Class X student in the state during the current academic year. This programme includes hands-on practical experiments, ensuring students gain direct experience with these emerging technologies.

This move marks a significant development in Kerala's efforts to integrate digital skills into the school curriculum. It aims to prepare students with relevant technical knowledge and practical skills that can benefit their future education and career paths.

Role of Little KITES in Implementing Robotics Curriculum

Little KITES, the IT club network in public schools, will be at the forefront of executing this robotics curriculum. To support this, a district-level workshop was recently held for Little KITES nodal officers. The workshop gathered 390 students from 196 Little KITES units across the district.

The sessions focused on guiding the club activities for the year, sharing best practices from top-performing units at district and state levels, and exploring how the School Wiki can help spread innovative ideas among students and educators.

Inclusive Learning and Support for Students with Disabilities

KITE CEO Anvar Sadath highlighted that this year’s programme places special emphasis on inclusive education. Students with various disabilities will receive targeted support through digital tools, ensuring they have equal access to learning opportunities in AI and robotics.

Ensuring Adequate Support and Infrastructure

The workshop also included detailed discussions about the support roles Little KITES units must undertake. This includes ensuring students have access to the necessary assistance and infrastructure to engage effectively with robotics education.

By embedding AI and robotics into the school curriculum and providing hands-on learning, Kerala is taking practical steps to equip its students with skills relevant for the future.
