LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky Steps Down to Lead Microsoft's Office AI Push
Ryan Roslansky is leaving his role as LinkedIn CEO after six years to lead artificial intelligence development across Microsoft Office. Daniel Shapero, the company's chief operating officer, will replace him as head of the professional networking platform.
Roslansky joined LinkedIn in 2020 and expanded the company's advertising business and international operations. His tenure centered on integrating emerging technology into the platform, including the recent publication of a book on AI's effect on the workforce.
In his new position within Microsoft's Office AI group, Roslansky will oversee the expansion of AI tools and automation features across Office applications. He said the shift reflects CEO Satya Nadella's bet that AI will reshape how people work and advance their careers faster than most expect.
"LinkedIn and Office would be at the center of that," Roslansky said. "That opportunity is only getting bigger. So we're scaling the team and talent to match it."
Shapero has worked at LinkedIn since 2008 in various leadership positions across sales, marketing, and product. Following the transition, he will report to Roslansky, maintaining a direct line between the two roles.
Roslansky described Shapero as someone who knows the company's members and customers deeply. "He knows our members, our customers, and carries the mission in a way that's genuinely rare," Roslansky said.
Shapero said his focus will be on creating economic opportunities for professionals while helping them adapt to AI-driven changes in the labor market. "I will be focused on driving more economic opportunity at LinkedIn, and will remain committed to ensuring that professionals are able to align their careers with the development of the latest AI tools and processes," he said.
The appointment signals continuity in LinkedIn's current direction, according to analysts tracking the transition.
