Malaysia to Deploy AI-Based Recruitment System for Foreign Workers
Malaysia's government plans to introduce an AI-powered recruitment system for workers from all source countries, Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said. The system aims to cut intermediaries, reduce migration costs, and shift recruitment expenses entirely to employers rather than workers.
Bangladesh has agreed to support the digital platform as a global initiative involving other labor-sending nations. The commitment emerged from a bilateral labor migration meeting between Malaysia and Bangladesh in Putrajaya.
The approach aligns with the International Labour Organisation's "Employer Pays Principle," which holds that employers should bear recruitment costs.
Reopening Labor Market
Malaysia and Bangladesh agreed to accelerate reopening the labor market for Bangladeshi workers based on Malaysia's workforce needs. Both countries committed to maintaining fair, ethical, and transparent recruitment processes.
Addressing Trafficking Concerns
Officials from both nations discussed ongoing legal cases related to human trafficking in worker recruitment. Malaysia emphasized the need to address unfounded or malicious actions that could damage its international standing.
The two countries reaffirmed their long-standing partnership in labor migration.
