Marketers Are Serious About AI Adoption—But Stress Levels Are High

Nearly 8 in 10 companies are committed to integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into their daily marketing and advertising operations. A recent survey of ADWEEK readers shows that 78% of marketers say their organizations are serious about embracing AI technology. Meanwhile, about 20% remain hesitant or uncommitted.

Adopting AI isn’t without its challenges. The survey revealed that 85% of marketers feel pressure to stay updated with the fast-changing AI landscape. Despite that, more marketers express excitement than worry about AI’s growing role: 51% feel excited, while 39% feel apprehensive.

Confidence Grows Despite Pressure

Confidence in using AI tools is relatively high among marketers. About 83% say they are very or somewhat confident in their ability to leverage AI effectively in their roles. This confidence likely helps explain why more marketers are optimistic rather than anxious about AI adoption.

The survey included nearly 250 marketers and advertisers, most of whom work at either brands or advertising agencies. This gives a clear picture of how AI is viewed in marketing teams right now.

AI Skill Growth Compared to Other Industries

Data from LinkedIn shows that marketers are adopting AI skills at a moderate pace compared to other fields. Between April 2024 and April 2025, the number of AI-related skills listed by marketers increased by 12%. This is respectable but lags behind sectors like government, which saw a 28% increase.

Employment data from Live Data Technologies indicates that while AI adoption is increasing, staff-level marketing jobs have declined in recent years. Manager and director roles, however, have remained steady.

Government and Healthcare Lead in AI Adoption Growth

Compared to marketing, industries like government and healthcare are outpacing AI adoption growth. These sectors have seen faster increases in AI skills and integration, reflecting different operational priorities and pressures.
