Maze raises €21.8 million to deploy AI agents that stop cloud security breaches before they happen
London startup Maze raised €21.8M to advance AI agents that autonomously investigate and resolve cloud security vulnerabilities. Their platform targets the riskiest threats to prevent breaches.

London-Based Startup Maze Raises €21.8 Million to Tackle Cloud Security Breaches with AI Agents
Maze, a British startup founded in 2024, has secured €21.8 million in a Series A funding round to advance its AI-driven platform that investigates and resolves cloud security vulnerabilities. This fresh capital comes less than a year after Maze's establishment and follows a €5.2 million Seed round, bringing total funding to €27 million. The Series A was led by Theory Ventures, with existing investors Cherry Ventures and Tapestry VC also participating.
AI Agents That Think Like Human Analysts
Maze’s core innovation lies in its AI agents that mimic the workflow of expert security analysts. These agents autonomously investigate, triage, and resolve vulnerabilities in cloud environments, targeting those that pose the highest risk of exploitation. Unlike traditional tools that depend on rigid, rule-based systems, Maze’s agents operate with a human-like understanding, enabling more accurate and effective threat mitigation.
The founding team includes Harry Wetherald, Adrian Jozwik, and Santiago Castineira, who bring experience from leading tech companies such as Tessian, Elastic, and Amazon. They have been joined by engineers with backgrounds at Meta, Adyen, and Nvidia to build Maze’s AI-native security platform. The solution is already in use by over ten organizations, including two Fortune 200 companies and several fast-growing tech firms.
Addressing a Growing Vulnerability Crisis
Vulnerabilities have become a major challenge for security teams. In 2024, exploitation of vulnerabilities rose by 34%, surpassing phishing as a leading cause of security incidents. The number of reported vulnerabilities (CVEs) increased by nearly 40% the same year. Most companies can only fix about 10% of their open vulnerabilities each month, leaving them exposed—especially as attackers leverage AI to launch more complex attacks.
Maze’s AI agents sift through massive amounts of cloud data to identify the small subset of vulnerabilities that are actually exploitable and likely to lead to breaches. By automating the investigation and resolution process, Maze helps security teams focus on the most critical threats without being overwhelmed by noise.
Backing from Industry Experts
Andy Triedman, Partner at Theory Ventures and new member of Maze’s board, highlighted the platform’s unique approach: “Today’s vulnerability management tools are built to aggregate data for human analysts. Maze is built from the ground up for autonomous investigations and triage.”
Mandy Andress, CISO at Elastic, praised Maze’s product for its innovative use of Agentic AI that goes beyond simple automation of manual tasks.
Looking Ahead
Maze is expanding its AI-native platform to cover more security use cases, aiming to provide comprehensive protection against cloud security breaches. This new funding will support team growth and accelerate product development as security teams face mounting pressure from increasingly sophisticated attacks.
For IT and security professionals interested in AI and cloud security innovations, Maze’s approach offers a practical example of how AI agents can improve efficiency and effectiveness in vulnerability management.
