MITO AI raises $4.5M pre-seed to put collaborative AI video tools in creators' hands
MITO AI has officially launched with a $4.5M pre-seed round led by Paul Murphy at Lightspeed Venture Partners, with participation from Kibo, Kfund, Sequoia and A16Z scouts, LifeX, and angels including 5 unicorn founders and leaders from USV, Roblox, and GitHub.
Built by filmmakers, MITO is a browser-based workspace where teams can organize, create, edit, and ship cinematic content together. It runs on the latest video, image, and audio AI models and pairs them with professional-grade editing tools-so creative decisions happen in one place, in real time.
What MITO is (and why it matters if you make video)
Think of MITO as your "first day on set," but in a shared canvas. Everyone sees the same board. Everyone moves faster, together.
- Multiplayer collaboration: Work with directors, editors, producers, clients-live.
- AI copilot you can direct: Ask it to draft scripts, tweak beats, adjust camera angles, swap shots, or prep multi-format exports.
- End-to-end workflow: Moodboards, storyboards, scripting, shot lists, VFX passes, and final deliverables in one flow.
- Control and consistency: Keep style, continuity, and brand aligned across versions and channels.
The result: less time on setup and repetitive edits, more time on taste, narrative, and craft.
How the platform works
MITO brings foundational AI models for video, images, and audio into a single, infinite canvas. You can iterate ideas, assemble cuts, and direct the AI copilot to execute specific actions-without bouncing across tools.
It's built for films, commercials, and music videos, and it adapts to solo creators or studio teams. From pre-production to delivery, you keep ownership of the process and the look.
Backed by builders who care about creative tools
Lightspeed led the round, joined by Kibo, Kfund, Sequoia and A16Z scouts, LifeX, and a network of operators and founders from top companies. The team is headquartered between Madrid and San Francisco.
Danny Saltaren-MITO cofounder and CPO, National Design Award recipient, and former Head of Product Design at two unicorns-says the goal is simple: remove the tedious parts of production so storytellers can push originality, depth, and vision.
Beyond the app: studio + marketplace
MITO is also building an AI-enabled audiovisual studio already collaborating with leading TV and movie production companies, plus a curated marketplace of generative creators. The aim: make professional storytelling tools accessible to more creatives and help great work find its audience.
