Nextech3D.ai adds hotel booking to event platform, eyes travel transaction fees
Nextech3D.ai has integrated hotel booking directly into its event technology platform through a partnership with HotelPlanner, a group travel booking service. The integration taps inventory from Expedia, Priceline, Kayak, Hotels.com, and Booking.com to let event participants book lodging without leaving the event page.
The Toronto-based company will earn fees on qualifying bookings made through its event pages. Nextech supports conferences and trade shows that collectively involve over one million event-related travelers annually, according to the company.
How the integration works
HotelPlanner provides the underlying booking infrastructure and access to global hotel supply. Nextech can selectively deploy the feature across supported events, letting organizers decide whether to offer integrated lodging options as part of the event experience.
The arrangement is modular. Event organizers retain control over whether to activate lodging capabilities for their specific events.
Revenue model and uncertainty
Nextech frames this as a way to monetize existing event-driven travel demand. The company expects the integration to generate incremental revenue tied to travel already being generated by its platforms.
However, Nextech acknowledges significant uncertainty. Revenue will depend on customer adoption, booking volumes, traveler behavior, event schedules, and other factors. The company offers no assurance the integration will generate revenue at any particular level.
Strategic positioning
The move extends Nextech's monetization beyond core event services into transaction-based revenue. The company positions its platform as an end-to-end operating layer for live events, supporting engagement, logistics, commerce, and post-event activities within a single ecosystem.
Ben Knosby, GM of Lucid Travel and VP of Sports at HotelPlanner, said the partnership creates a more seamless experience for event participants while giving event technology providers a way to participate in travel revenue. "By aligning lodging distribution with Nextech's event platforms, this partnership creates a more seamless experience for event participants while enabling event technologies to participate in an incremental revenue opportunity tied to travel demand already being generated," Knosby said.
