AI-generated documentary 'Post Truth' heads to EFM with Odin's Eye handling global sales

Odin's Eye Entertainment has picked up worldwide sales rights to Post Truth, the AI-generated documentary from Turkish director Alkan Avcıoğlu, and will introduce the title to buyers at the European Film Market (EFM).

The film examines how autonomous tech is reshaping our sense of truth and justice. It blends AI-generated visuals, sound, and music, using Generative Video techniques, with Avcıoğlu shaping more than 60 hours of material into a focused feature.

Post Truth premiered internationally at the Warsaw Film Festival in 2025 and rolled out in Turkey via Başka Sinema. It is also in competition at Portugal's Fantasporto, adding fresh momentum ahead of market screenings.

The project was co-written by Avcıoğlu and multidisciplinary artist Vikki Bardot, and produced by AI-forward outfit Spongeworthy Studio. Avcıoğlu brings a decade-plus in film acquisitions and pivoted in 2022 to build stories with AI-useful context for buyers weighing commercial potential and positioning.

"This may ruffle some feathers, but I think this is the first 'AI masterpiece', and it deserves to be experienced on the big screen," said Odin's Eye founder and CEO Michael Favelle.

Why this matters for buyers

  • Clear market hook: AI is top-of-mind for platforms, broadcasters, and event cinemas. The film's AI-native craft is a headline in itself.
  • Proven festival traction: Warsaw premiere and Fantasporto competition status offer press angles and awards marketing.
  • Conversation driver: Truth, justice, and autonomy are high-engagement topics for Q&A events, academic circuits, and corporate screenings.
  • Programmable across lanes: Works for documentary strands, tech and culture verticals, and specials tied to AI policy news cycles.
  • Efficient positioning: Director's acquisitions background helps align deliverables, festival strategy, and buyer needs.

Positioning and comps

Consider positioning alongside issue-driven tech docs that travel well and sustain long-tail interest via education and VOD. Think Coded Bias or The Great Hack-titles that sparked debate and repeat bookings without blockbuster spend.

For streamers and broadcasters, emphasize the AI-native production approach as a differentiator, while the ethical lens keeps it accessible for general audiences. Production and marketing teams can consult AI for Creatives guidance on tools and workflows used to craft and promote such projects. For theatrical, lead with eventized screenings and panel partnerships.

Release ideas that sell

  • Anchor a limited theatrical run with expert panels and community groups; capture Q&As for digital extras.
  • Window toward SVOD/AVOD with a strong trailer and short-form clips optimized for social debates around misinformation.
  • Package educational rights for universities and policy institutes; offer study guides and discussion prompts.
  • Time beats around AI regulations and major tech conferences to amplify press coverage.
  • Localize marketing with region-specific case studies on truth and justice to boost relevance.
