Slack's 30+ AI Features Target Sales Teams and Small Businesses
Salesforce announced more than 30 new features for Slack on Tuesday, centered on artificial intelligence. The update represents the largest overhaul since Salesforce acquired Slack for $27.7 billion in 2021.
For sales professionals, the most relevant addition is a native CRM tool built directly into Slack. Slackbot can now read channel conversations, identify when deals or new contacts are mentioned, and automatically update customer records.

The approach targets small businesses that lack formal customer tracking systems. Sales teams can manage deals and contacts within Slack without switching to separate software.

Meeting intelligence saves time on follow-ups
Slackbot can now listen to meetings on Zoom, Google Meet, or Slack Huddles. It transcribes conversations, summarizes decisions made, and generates action item lists automatically.
Because it connects to Salesforce's CRM, action items log directly into customer records. Sales reps no longer need to manually update records after calls.
Reusable AI skills reduce repetitive work
A new feature called AI-Skills lets teams create custom workflows once and reuse them. A sales team could define a skill like "summarize this prospect brief" or "generate a proposal outline."
Slackbot recognizes when you're attempting that task and offers to run the skill automatically.
Privacy controls and the Claude partnership
Slack's AI runs on Anthropic's Claude model, which handles complex reasoning while keeping the interface fast. The company says all monitoring features-including desktop activity tracking and meeting listening-are user-controlled.
Starting this summer, Salesforce will include Slack automatically for all new customers.
