Stellantis and Microsoft partner on 100+ AI initiatives across vehicles and operations

Stellantis and Microsoft announced a five-year collaboration on Thursday to expand artificial intelligence across the automaker's product development, manufacturing, and customer service operations. The partnership will focus on more than 100 AI-driven initiatives.

The work spans vehicle technology and backend systems. Stellantis plans to embed AI directly into vehicles, including real-time driver recommendations for efficiency and vehicle health monitoring through an updated digital cabin and core operating system.

Product development and manufacturing

For AI for Product Development, Stellantis will integrate AI into design and engineering workflows. The company has already deployed AI across these functions and plans to deepen that integration through the partnership.

On the manufacturing side, Stellantis will use AI for Operations to optimize production processes. The automaker is also undertaking a cloud modernization effort on Microsoft's Azure platform, with a target to reduce its data centre footprint by 60 percent by 2029.

Cybersecurity and workforce tools

Stellantis will establish an AI-powered global cyber defence centre to monitor threats across its IT infrastructure, connected vehicles, and digital platforms. The system is designed to strengthen resilience against cyberattacks.

The company is also equipping employees with enterprise-grade AI tools. All staff currently have access to Copilot Chat, with an initial 20,000 Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses supporting select roles to improve productivity and collaboration.

Ned Curic, Stellantis Chief Engineering and Technology Officer, said the company has been an early adopter of AI across engineering, manufacturing, and design. Judson Althoff, CEO of Microsoft's Commercial Business, said the partnership combines "Stellantis' global scale and engineering expertise with Microsoft's trusted cloud, AI and security platforms."
