Taiwan courts European event planners with AI tools and food at IMEX Frankfurt

Taiwan's government agencies completed 174 business meetings at IMEX Frankfurt 2026 and demonstrated AI-powered services to international event planners seeking conference and incentive travel destinations in Asia.

The Taiwan MICE Pavilion, a joint effort between the Tourism Administration and the International Trade Administration, operated May 19-21 at the trade show in Frankfurt. Thirteen industry partners exhibited alongside MEET TAIWAN, marking the first cross-ministerial collaboration of its kind for the country.

The show drew more than 3,100 exhibitors from 150 countries and 4,500 professional buyers. European meeting planners and travel executives made up the largest share of pavilion visitors, though buyers from the Americas and Middle East also attended.

Food and drink drove engagement

The pavilion's main draw was the "Taste Taiwan" campaign, a two-day activation serving brown sugar boba milk, gua bao, and Taiwan-inspired cocktails. European buyers said the food and drink experiences communicated Taiwan's hospitality and strengthened its image as a welcoming conference destination.

Seven group buyer presentations during the event reached nearly 100 attendees.

AI tools handled translation and customer service

Taiwan highlighted its technology capabilities through two main demonstrations. Exhibitor IPEVO Corp. introduced real-time AI voice translation tools that provided simultaneous interpretation during presentations and multilingual communication at the service desk.

Buyers said the translation technology improved communication efficiency and enabled more detailed business discussions. The Tourism Administration also demonstrated an AI-powered smart travel concierge system and an immersive interactive experience platform designed to showcase Taiwan's AI for Hospitality & Events capabilities.

Taiwan plans continued outreach to Europe

Taiwan's delegates attended educational forums on sustainable event design, AI Translation Courses and immersive hybrid experiences. The government said the integrated pavilion approach helped present a unified image to international buyers.

The Tourism Administration plans to continue promoting Taiwan's MICE sector through incentive programs and public-private partnerships aimed at attracting more European companies to host events there.

IMEX Frankfurt 2026 operated under the theme "Design Matters," with more than 200 educational sessions covering AI tools, ESG reporting and hybrid event experiences.
