Trojan Horse Media Strengthens Leadership with Strategic New Appointments

Trojan Horse Media, the Emmy-nominated production company behind the acclaimed Netflix documentary Mucho Mucho Amor: The Legend of Walter Mercado and HBO Max’s Menudo: Forever Young, has announced three significant appointments to expand its creative and production capabilities.

Joey Daoud Named Head of AI

Joey Daoud, an award-winning documentary filmmaker and creative technologist, has been appointed as Head of AI, a newly established position that reflects Trojan Horse Media’s commitment to integrating artificial intelligence ethically into its creative workflow. Daoud’s work, featured on platforms like Netflix, Hulu, and National Geographic, includes his role as cinematographer on Mucho Mucho Amor, working closely with company founders Alex Fumero and Kareem Tabsch.

His appointment follows a strategic partnership with VP Land, a media and technology company Daoud founded to explore AI’s role in storytelling. At Trojan Horse Media, Daoud will lead the introduction of AI tools across development, production, and post-production processes.

Kareem Tabsch commented, “Joey and I have collaborated for over a decade. His blend of technical skill and storytelling insight makes him the perfect partner to help us innovate responsibly.”

Margaret Katcher Takes the Helm as Head of Audio

Margaret Katcher has stepped into the newly created role of Head of Audio, overseeing Trojan Horse’s expanding podcast portfolio. An award-winning producer, journalist, and story editor, Katcher has an impressive track record developing projects like Crumbs (Spotify Best New Podcast 2022, Apple Podcasts ‘Shows We Loved’ 2022, and 2024 Signal Award winner) and Silenced: The Radio Murders (recipient of the National Press Club’s Arthur E. Rowse Award).

She also produced The Trafficked Podcast with Mariana Van Zeller for National Geographic and hosts the Emmy-winning science video series Deep Look for KQED and PBS Digital Studios.

Alex Fumero praised Katcher’s appointment: “She combines journalistic rigor with exceptional storytelling sensitivity. Margaret’s leadership will elevate our audio division.”

Elizabeth Schuetzle Promoted to Development Coordinator

Elizabeth Schuetzle has been promoted to Development Coordinator, supporting Trojan Horse Media’s film, TV, and audio projects currently in development. Since joining the team, she has played a crucial role in research, pitch strategy, and cross-functional coordination.
