Trump Threatens Iran With AI-Generated Image, Escalating Stalled Negotiations

President Donald Trump threatened Iran on Wednesday morning via Truth Social, posting an AI-generated image of himself holding a gun with explosions in the background and the text "NO MORE MR. NICE GUY!"

"Iran can't get their act together. They don't know how to sign a nonnuclear deal. They better get smart soon!," Trump wrote in the post, which came shortly after 4 a.m. ET.

The message signals deteriorating talks as the Strait of Hormuz remains blockaded and negotiations have stalled. Trump canceled a planned trip to Pakistan last weekend where U.S. negotiators were scheduled to meet with Iranian representatives.

Where Negotiations Stand

Tehran proposed reopening the Strait of Hormuz if the U.S. lifts its blockade of Iranian ports and the war ends, according to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt. The proposal would defer discussions on Iran's nuclear program to a later date.

Trump rejected the offer. "We have all the cards," he told Fox News, adding that Iran should "come to us, or they can call us" if they want to negotiate.

Previous talks led by Vice President JD Vance ended without agreement.

Market Impact

Oil prices rose following Trump's post. West Texas Intermediate futures climbed 2.82% to $102.75 per barrel, while Brent crude gained 3% to $114.62.

Prices were already elevated after the United Arab Emirates announced it would leave OPEC on May 1, complicating the global supply outlook.
