Workday Adds Seven New AI Agents to Streamline HR and More

Workday Inc. has introduced seven new AI agents to its cloud platform, aimed at automating repetitive tasks across human resources, legal, and finance departments. With over 60% of the Fortune 500 as customers, Workday’s platform is already a key tool for HR professionals managing payroll, recruiting, and related workflows.

Legal AI Agents: Simplifying Contract Work

Three of the new agents focus on legal teams. The Contract Intelligence Agent and Supplier Contracts Agent help attorneys quickly locate important details within lengthy contracts, with the Supplier Contracts Agent specialized in procurement agreements.

The Contract Negotiation Agent goes a step further by suggesting contract changes that could benefit the company. It also drafts new contract language automatically, saving legal teams from manual rewriting.

Boosting Finance Efficiency

For finance teams, the Document Driven Accounting Agent extracts key details from documents like invoices, cutting down manual data entry and speeding up accounting processes.

New AI Tools for HR

Human resources professionals will gain from three new agents:

  • Frontline Agent – Helps report employee absences and find replacements quickly.
  • Contingent Sourcing Agent – Streamlines hiring for temporary roles.
  • Self-Service Agent – Automatically answers employee questions, freeing up HR time, and can even complete some tasks on employees' behalf.

Powered by Workday Illuminate

These agents operate on Workday Illuminate, an AI engine launched last September. It draws on the largest and cleanest dataset of HR and financial records available, sourced from Workday’s platform that processes over 70 billion business events monthly.

Shane Luke, vice president of Workday Illuminate, said, “Our agents leverage the world’s most powerful HR and finance dataset to turn insights into impact – boosting productivity, enhancing compliance, and accelerating decision-making at every level.”

Availability

  • Contract Intelligence Agent and Contract Negotiation Agent are available now.
  • Self-Service Agent will launch by the end of this year.
  • The other four agents will roll out in early 2026.

These new AI tools join existing Workday agents that automate tasks such as expense tracking, payroll management, and recruiting, further easing administrative burdens for HR teams.
