Acre Venture Partners Invests in Zucca’s GenAI Platform to Transform Product Development in CPG

Zucca, a Seattle-based startup, has launched its generative AI platform aimed at streamlining new product development (NPD) for consumer packaged goods (CPG) companies. The company recently closed a $5 million seed round led by Acre Venture Partners, alongside PSL Ventures, AIStudio Fund (backed by Mayfield), and Sugar Mountain Capital. Zucca was incubated in Pioneer Square Labs (PSL) and focuses on mid-market and smaller venture-backed CPG firms that want to innovate but lack in-house AI development resources.

Jesse Guzman, Zucca’s cofounder and former principal at PSL, highlights that many CPG companies are eager to adopt AI but have yet to build their own solutions. “We identified large markets with complex workflows where generative AI can fundamentally improve how product development is executed,” Guzman said.

Accelerating Product Development with Parallel Workflows

Unlike existing AI solutions that primarily help large CPGs analyze external data for trend identification, Zucca is focused on the entire product development lifecycle — from ideation and formulation to sourcing. The platform enables teams to work on these stages simultaneously rather than sequentially, speeding up the process through a centralized workspace with built-in checks to avoid oversight.

Users set clear parameters upfront, covering regulatory compliance, sensory requirements, cost constraints, and brand guidelines. Zucca then assists with concept development, formulation, nutrition labeling, and economic modeling, helping teams rapidly evaluate manufacturing costs and other variables.

The platform integrates both internal company data such as spreadsheets and supplier specs, and external data sources to inform decisions. Currently, Zucca has a small team working with a dozen beta partners who value the ability to document concepts thoroughly and see real-time updates on economics as changes happen.

Flexible SaaS Model and Customer Targeting

Zucca operates on a tiered SaaS pricing model, charging by user seat. Editor seats provide full platform access and cost more, while viewer seats offer limited access at a lower price. The company is also exploring pricing based on specific jobs or projects.

Their sales approach targets individuals responsible for product development holistically—roles such as product development directors, commercialization leads, brand leaders, innovation managers, and heads of R&D. Data privacy is a key priority; Zucca does not use customer data to train its AI models or share it externally.

Acre Venture Partners Sees Zucca as Core to CPG Commercialization

Lucas Mann, managing partner at Acre Venture Partners, emphasized speed as a critical factor for AI startups entering entrenched industries. He praised Zucca’s leadership, PSL’s support, and their combined network in food and beverage for building confidence in the startup.

“Zucca’s platform architecture is advanced and unique,” Mann said. “Large CPGs might build something similar internally, but few have the engineering talent that Zucca’s team brings to the table. This talent will continue evolving the product alongside their partners.”

Mann expects Zucca’s technology to become integral to commercialization processes, much like ERP systems or other essential business tools. For smaller CPG firms, Zucca offers an affordable way to accelerate innovation. For larger companies, it supports rapid product development and better collaboration across teams and locations.

Strong Early Feedback Fuels Investor Confidence

What convinced Acre Venture Partners to lead the investment was powerful early feedback from potential customers. These sessions revealed the platform’s capability and potential impact even at this early stage, reinforcing Zucca’s promise in transforming product development workflows.

For product development professionals seeking ways to increase efficiency and reduce risk in NPD, Zucca’s platform offers a practical, AI-driven workspace to manage complex projects with clarity and speed.
