AI agent for electricians
Circuit Fault Isolation Agent
Isolate the fault in as few tests as possible, safely.
What it does
An intermittent fault can take three visits to find. This agent works through the diagnosis with you. From your description and first readings, it proposes the next test with the expected result for each possible cause. You perform the test and enter the result. It updates the list of likely causes, rules some out, and proposes the next test, repeating until the fault is isolated. It records the path taken and warns you about unsafe steps, such as testing a live circuit without lockout. It never acts on the circuit itself. You approve each test and any repair plan. Edge case: a breaker trips only when the dishwasher and microwave run, and the agent suggests a load test.
How it works
Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.
Read the steps as a list
- Service call starts
- Record symptoms, circuit layout and first readings
- List likely causes and rank them
- Propose the next test with expected results and safety notes
- Electrician approves and performs the testThe agent waits here for your OK.
- Enter the test result
- Update the cause list and rule out causes
- Is the fault isolated to one cause? If not: Pick the next test from the remaining causes. Back to step 4.
- Record the diagnosis path and propose a repair plan with parts
- Electrician approves the repair planThe agent waits here for your OK.
- Fault report and repair plan
How it decides
It ranks the likely causes by the evidence so far and picks the test that separates the most likely ones with the lowest risk.
- Safety steps (lockout, tagout) always come first
- Prefer non-invasive tests before opening panels
- Rank causes by evidence, not by cost
- Stop after 8 tests and review with the electrician
Make it yours
Every agent is a starting point. You choose these settings for your own situation.
- Max tests before review (default 8)
- Test equipment available
- Circuit types
- Safety notes included
- Report format
What keeps you in control
It always asks you first
- Each test
- The repair plan
Hard limits
- Never says a live test is safe
- Never directs work on live equipment without lockout
- Defers to the electrician
It stops when
- Done: fault isolated and repair plan approved
- Stop: 8 tests without isolation; electrician takes over
