Financial Disclosure and Filing Cross-Check Agent

A cross-checked set of filings with a timeline and a list of discrepancies for the reporter to pursue

Financial Disclosure and Filing Cross-Check Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

Reporters get a stack of filings and disclosures but rarely have time to compare them. This agent collects filings from public databases, such as company filings, ownership records and disclosures, and compares figures and names across documents. It flags discrepancies, such as a different address for the same company, mismatched totals or an owner missing from one filing. It builds a timeline. It requests the missing filings and rechecks. The reporter approves any claim before use. Edge case: two filings name the same person with different middle initials, so the agent flags a possible match rather than asserting one.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

How it decides

A discrepancy is real when the same fact differs between two dated documents and name matching is confident.

  • Match entities on name, address and registration number
  • Label a name match as possible when only the name matches
  • Flag a figure that differs by more than 5%
  • Record the source and date for every claim

An example run

What happensFor a developer the agent found two filings giving the same company's registered address differently and a 2021 report showing 3 owners against 4 in another document. The match check failed on a person with two spellings, so it labeled that as possible. It requested a 2020 filing, which showed the fourth owner joining in March. The reporter approved the timeline for use.
