What it does

Footnotes are the slowest part of a journal note. A source is missing, a pin cite points to the wrong page, a quote has a changed word. This agent extracts every footnote from the draft, checks that each source exists, verifies quotes and pin cites against the source text, applies the house citation format and flags problems. After each edit it rechecks all footnotes, because changes shift numbering and short cites. The student approves the final version. Edge case: a footnote cites a source with the wrong year, so the agent finds the right edition and proposes the correction.
