AI agent for plumbers

Leak Source Narrowing Agent

Find the leak source with the fewest tests and openings.

Leak Source Narrowing Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

A hidden leak can take three visits to find. This agent takes the customer's description and meter readings and proposes the next test, such as a pressure drop test, a fixture shutoff or a meter check with all water off. You do the test and enter the result. It narrows the area, rules out sources and proposes the next test, repeating until the source is isolated. It records the path, the time and the cost so far. You approve any wall opening or repair quote. Edge case: the meter moves with all fixtures off, but the pressure test on the hot side holds, and the agent focuses on the cold side.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

How it decides

It picks the test that rules out the largest part of the system with the least damage, then updates the likely area after each result.

  • Non-invasive tests before any wall opening
  • Meter test with all water off comes first
  • Stop after 6 tests and review with the plumber
  • Opening the wall needs customer approval

Make it yours

Every agent is a starting point. You choose these settings for your own situation.

  • Maximum tests before review (default 6)
  • Test types available
  • Cost per test
  • Opening rules
  • Report format

What keeps you in control

It always asks you first

  • Each test
  • Wall opening
  • The repair quote

Hard limits

  • Never opens walls without approval
  • Never gives a guaranteed diagnosis
  • Records all steps

It stops when

  • Done: source located and quote approved
  • Stop: 6 tests without isolation; plumber considers tracer or camera

An example run

What happensA slab home lost 40 gallons a day. The meter moved with all fixtures off. The agent proposed a hot side pressure test, which held, so the isolation check failed. The cold side dropped 12 psi in 10 minutes. A zone test found the loss under the bathroom. The plumber approved opening one section of the floor and a $1,350 repair quote.
