Resume Screening Shortlist Agent

A fair, evidence-backed shortlist for each open role

Resume Screening Shortlist Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

When a role opens, hundreds of applications arrive and each must be judged against the same criteria, which is slow and uneven by hand. This agent turns the job's must-have and nice-to-have requirements into a scoring guide that the hiring manager confirms first. It reads each resume, scores it against the guide, and writes the evidence behind each score. Then it checks its own work: it reviews a sample of low-scoring resumes for qualified people it may have missed. If it finds misses, it adjusts how it reads equivalent experience and rescores everyone. It also compares pass rates across groups where data is available. The recruiter approves the shortlist, and the agent never rejects anyone on its own. Edge case: a candidate has a two-year career break, which the agent does not count against them.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

How it decides

It scores each resume only on job-related criteria with written evidence and checks a sample of low scores for missed matches.

  • Only job-related criteria are scored
  • Equivalent experience counts the same as titles
  • Career gaps are not scored

What happensFor a support team lead role with 310 applicants, 42 scored above the line. In a sample of 20 low scorers, 3 had clearly led teams under the title coordinator. The check failed, so the agent added a rule for leadership duties under other titles and rescored all 310. Now 51 passed. The recruiter reviewed the evidence notes and approved a shortlist of 18.
