AI agent for process engineers
Safety Device Test Schedule Agent
No safety device goes past its test date, and every failed test is followed to a passing retest.
What it does
Relief valves and safety trips need tests at set intervals, and the records live in a mix of spreadsheets and a maintenance system. This agent compares last test dates to the required intervals for each device and flags those due or overdue. It reads the results of recent tests for failures or near failures, such as a valve that lifted at 108 percent of set pressure. A failure opens a review task with the device history attached. It rechecks after repair to confirm a passing retest. You approve any change to a test interval. Edge case: a device that failed its last test is moved to a shorter interval until it passes twice.
How it works
Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.
Read the steps as a list
- Weekly run or new test result
- Read the device register and test history
- Calculate next due date for each device
- Is any device due or overdue? If not: draft the schedule and work order requests for the due items. Back to step 3.
- Read recent test results
- Did every test pass inside the acceptance band?If not: open a review task with device history and shorten its interval pending retest. Back to step 5.
- Engineer approves work orders and review tasksThe agent waits here for your OK.
- Read the retest result after repair
- Did the retest pass?If not: keep the device flagged and escalate to the engineer. Back to step 8.
- Engineer approves any interval changeThe agent waits here for your OK.
- Safety device test status
How it decides
A device is due when the interval has elapsed. A test is a near failure when its result is inside the acceptance band but near the limit.
- Device past its due date: urgent work order request
- Lift pressure outside plus or minus 3 percent of set: failure
- Two consecutive failures: recommend a design or service review
- Passed three tests in a row with margin: propose a longer interval for approval
Make it yours
Every agent is a starting point. You choose these settings for your own situation.
- Acceptance band (default plus or minus 3 percent)
- Intervals by device class
- Run day
- Near failure margin
- Who gets work orders
What keeps you in control
It always asks you first
- Work orders raised
- Any change to test intervals
Hard limits
- Never change an interval without approval
- Never mark a failed test as passed
It stops when
- Done: all devices current
- Stop: test data unavailable for a device
