What it does

Quotes come in different formats, with hidden extras, and are hard to compare. This agent sends the same request for quote to each selected supplier. When quotes return, it normalizes them into one table with price, minimums, lead time, tooling, shipping and payment terms. It flags missing items and hidden extras, such as separate tooling or packaging fees. It then asks vendors to clarify and checks again when they answer. It repeats until each quote is complete and comparable, or marks a vendor as incomplete. The designer approves the shortlist and any order. Edge case: a quote in another currency is converted at a stated rate on the quote date.

How it decides

A quote is comparable when it states unit price, minimum order, lead time, tooling, shipping and terms for the same spec. Suppliers are ranked by total landed cost and lead time.

  • Flag a vendor that does not answer in 5 days
  • Convert currency using the quote date rate
