AI agent for logistics engineers

Warehouse Pick Path Rehearsal Agent

Pick routes that are short and follow every constraint.

Warehouse Pick Path Rehearsal Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

Draft warehouse pick routes often ignore blocked aisles or rules such as picking heavy items first. When the layout changes, an aisle is blocked or routes are planned, this agent generates a candidate route for each pick list. It checks the route against every constraint: blocked aisles, item order rules, cart capacity and that every pick is included. If a check fails, it revises the route based on that specific failure and checks again. It compares route lengths only among routes that pass every rule. A shorter route that breaks a rule is rejected. The warehouse lead approves routes before dispatch. Edge case: a route is 12% shorter but skips a required pick in aisle 7.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

Read the steps as a list
  1. Planning cycle or layout change
  2. Read pick lists and current layout
  3. Generate a candidate route
  4. Check constraints
  5. Does the route meet every constraint and include every pick?If not: revise using the failed check. Back to step 3.
  6. Compare lengths among passing routes
  7. Warehouse lead approves for dispatchThe agent waits here for your OK.
  8. Validated pick-route proposal

How it decides

It optimizes length only among routes that pass all constraints.

  • Constraints come before distance.
  • Every pick on the list must be in the route.
  • Revise from the specific check that failed.

Make it yours

Every agent is a starting point. You choose these settings for your own situation.

  • Constraints to enforce (blocked aisles, heavy first, cart capacity)
  • How blocked aisles are reported
  • Planning schedule (default each wave)
  • Who approves routes

What keeps you in control

It always asks you first

  • Live dispatch
  • Physical safety

Hard limits

  • Simulation only.

It stops when

  • Done: valid route.

An example run

What happensOn 9 September aisle 4 is blocked for repairs. The agent generates routes for 18 pick lists. The constraint check fails on 3 that pass through aisle 4 and on 1 that picks a 20 kg item after glassware. It revises them. One alternative is 12% shorter but misses a pick in aisle 7, so it is rejected. All 18 pass. The warehouse lead approves dispatch.
