Aethyn Browser MCP server
by aethynio
Let your AI open a real browser through a proxy in a country you pick, and read or click pages for you.

This is a helper that lets your AI assistant open a real web browser on your own computer and visit websites through a proxy in a country you choose. It is handy if you need to see how a page looks from Japan, Germany, or the US, or if you want your AI to read and click around a site for you. You bring your own proxy login, and the browser runs locally, not on someone else's cloud.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to a real browser and to a proxy service, so the AI can open pages, read them, and click things when you ask. Here the connection is to a browser running on your machine plus a proxy that makes the traffic look like it comes from a country you pick.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like "open this site from Japan and show me the page". The AI uses this helper to launch a browser on your computer, routed through a proxy exit in Japan. The helper goes to the page, waits for it to load, and hands the cleaned-up text back to the AI. The AI then shows you the content in the chat, or clicks and types if you asked it to. You can also ask it to check that the exit really is in Japan before trusting the result.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Open a website through a proxy in a country you choose
- Read a page as clean text, markdown, or HTML
- Click buttons and links, and type into forms
- Check the exit IP to confirm which country the traffic came from
- Rotate to a fresh identity and clear cookies for a new task
- List which countries (and cities) are available
- Close the browser session when you are done
Try asking your AI
- “Launch a browser in Japan, open example.co.jp, and give me the page as markdown.”
- “Check that the exit IP is really in Germany before you read the page.”
- “Go to this product page from the US and tell me the price shown.”
- “Start a new identity in the same country and reload the page.”
What it gives back to you
You get back answers in the chat: the page as text or markdown, the page title and final web address, the HTTP status, and details about the exit IP such as country and city. If the AI clicked or typed something, it tells you what it did. You can also ask for a summary of what is on the page instead of the whole thing.
Before you start
What you need
- The Claude desktop app or Cursor (any app that supports MCP servers)
- Node.js installed on your computer (the npx command needs it)
- Aethyn proxy credentials (username and password), or any HTTP proxy you already have
- About 170 MB of free space for the browser download
Good to know
It can browse public pages for you, but please respect each site's rules and terms, do not use it behind logins, and do not try to bypass CAPTCHAs.
