DragonMCP server
by arthurpanhku
Ask your AI for live Hong Kong train times, weather warnings, and Mainland China routes and maps.

DragonMCP is a small helper that connects your AI to real Hong Kong and Mainland China travel data. It pulls live train arrivals, weather, and maps so your AI can answer questions about getting around. It is handy if you live in or travel to Hong Kong or southern China.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to Hong Kong's open data and to Amap, a Chinese map service, so it can look up train times, weather, and routes for you. You just ask a question in plain words, and the helper goes and gets the answer.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like when the next train leaves or what the weather is like. The AI passes your question to DragonMCP. DragonMCP then calls the real public service, such as the MTR train feed or the Hong Kong Observatory, and brings back the latest information. Your AI shows you the answer in the chat. For Mainland China routes and maps, it uses Amap, which needs your own free key.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Check the next MTR train arrivals between two Hong Kong stations
- Plan an MTR journey with transfers across all 10 lines
- See current Hong Kong weather and any active warnings
- Check typhoon or rainstorm signal status in Hong Kong
- Look up places of interest in Mainland China with Amap
- Get walking, driving, cycling, or public transit directions in Mainland China
- Run a self-test to see which data sources are reachable right now
Try asking your AI
- “When is the next train from Admiralty to Central?”
- “What is the weather in Hong Kong right now, and are there any warnings?”
- “Is there a typhoon signal in Hong Kong today?”
- “Find a coffee shop near People's Square in Shanghai”
What it gives back to you
You get plain answers in the chat, like a list of upcoming train times with minutes until arrival, or current temperature, humidity, and UV index. For routes, you get step by step directions and travel options. If a data source is down, the tool tells you instead of making something up. You can also ask it to run a self-test and it will report which services are reachable.
Before you start
What you need
- Node.js version 18 or newer
- An Amap (Gaode) API key if you want the Mainland China map and route tools (the Amap website gives you one for free)
- The Claude desktop app or another app that supports MCP servers
Good to know
The Mainland China map tools need your own Amap key, and the route planner optimises for fewer transfers rather than the fastest time, so it may not always give the quickest route.
Install it with your AI
Add DragonMCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check DragonMCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Anyone who lives in or travels to Hong Kong or Mainland China and wants quick answers about trains, weather, and local routes.
