TradingView MCP server
Ask your AI for market data, technical analysis, screeners and backtests on stocks, crypto, FX and futures.
This is a helper that lets your AI look up live market data and run technical analysis for you. You ask in normal words, and it pulls prices, indicators, screeners and backtest results from public market data. It is handy for anyone who follows markets and wants quick answers without opening a dozen tabs.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to a service. This one connects your AI to public market data, so it can look up prices, indicators and scans for stocks, crypto, forex and futures. When you ask a question, the AI passes it to this helper, and the helper fetches the numbers for you.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like a technical read on a stock or today's top crypto gainers. The AI sends that request to this helper. The helper then fetches market data from public sources and runs the analysis, like indicators, screeners or a backtest. The results come back to the AI, which explains them to you in the chat. You never have to visit a charting site or write any code yourself.
What you can do with it
- Get a full technical analysis of a stock, crypto, forex or futures symbol
- See today's top gainers and losers on exchanges like Binance
- Run screeners for volume breakouts and smart-money style activity
- Read multi-timeframe signals for a symbol
- Backtest a strategy like RSI or EMA cross on a chosen timeframe
- Compare several backtest strategies side by side
- Pull recent financial news and sentiment for a ticker
Try asking your AI
- “Show today's top crypto gainers on Binance”
- “Run a full technical analysis of NVDA”
- “What's the multi-timeframe read on gold?”
- “Backtest an RSI strategy on BTC on the daily timeframe”
What it gives back to you
You get answers written in plain words in your chat, often with numbers, scores and short summaries. Depending on what you ask, it can return lists of symbols, indicator readings, screener results, or backtest stats like win rate and drawdown. Some tools can also give a full trade log or an equity curve. The hosted version can even draw an interactive chart inside the conversation.
Before you start
What you need
- Python 3.10 or newer and uv (a tool that runs Python programs) if you self-host
- A free Marketaux API key if you want news and sentiment tools (a kind of password for apps; the site gives you one for free)
- An MCP client like Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Copilot
- No TradingView account or API key is needed
Good to know
This is not financial advice and it does not place trades, but its signals and backtest results can be wrong or based on delayed data, so always check things yourself before acting.
