Ask your AI what to build and get ranked SaaS ideas backed by market data.

FounderSignal is a helper that connects your AI to market research about software business ideas. Instead of spending a whole Saturday copying numbers from AppSumo, Reddit, Product Hunt and other sites into a spreadsheet, you just ask a question and get a ranked answer. It is handy for anyone thinking about starting or growing a small software product.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to a service. This one connects your AI to FounderSignal, a collection of market intelligence about software ideas, revenue figures, growth signals and complaints people post online. Once it is connected, your AI can look things up there and bring the answers back to your chat.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI a question about software ideas, like which categories are growing or where the gaps are. Your AI sends that question to the FounderSignal helper running on your computer. The helper looks through its collected market data and puts together a ranked answer. You get that answer back in your chat as a table or a summary, without opening any other website. If you want, you can also ask it to save a full report as a file on your computer.

What you can do with it

  • Ask which software categories are growing fastest right now
  • See revenue benchmarks from real startups
  • Spot niches with high demand but no clear winner
  • Read pain points people keep posting about online
  • Get a ranked list of opportunities with scores
  • Export a full market report as an HTML file
  • Compare competition levels across ideas

Try asking your AI

  • “What SaaS categories are growing fastest right now?”
  • “Show me bootstrapped products that hit $10K MRR in under a year”
  • “Are there underserved niches in the creator tools space?”
  • “What problems do solopreneurs keep paying to solve but still complain about?”

What it gives back to you

You get answers in your chat, usually as a ranked table with idea names, revenue figures, growth rates, competition levels and a score. It can also list trending pain points with upvote counts. If you ask for a report, it saves an HTML file to your computer that you can open in a browser. The answers come from collected market data, not live lookups yet.

Before you start

What you need

  • Node.js installed on your computer (a free tool that runs small programs)
  • The Claude desktop app or another AI app that supports MCP servers
  • A few minutes to edit a small settings file

Good to know

The current version uses curated sample data, not live market data, so treat the numbers as examples until the live release arrives.
