Codex MCP server
by Codex-Data · official
Lets your AI look up live crypto prices and blockchain data from Codex while you chat.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to Codex, a service that gathers blockchain and market data. Once it is set up, you can just ask your AI about coins, prices, or networks and it will fetch the answer for you. It is handy for anyone who follows crypto markets and wants quick facts without opening five different websites.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already learned. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI one new skill, in this case a connection to Codex. When you ask a question, your AI quietly passes it to this helper, the helper asks Codex, and the answer comes back into your chat. You do not have to understand how it works, you just add it once and it stays available.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something about crypto, like the price of a token or what is happening on a network. Your AI sends that request to this Codex helper running behind the scenes. The helper talks to the Codex service, which keeps track of blockchain and market information across many networks. Codex sends back the data, and your AI turns it into a normal answer in your chat window. You never leave the conversation.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Look up current prices and market data for tokens
- Check information about different blockchain networks
- Ask about a specific coin or project by name
- Get enriched blockchain details that Codex has gathered
- Compare data across several networks in one question
- Pull quick facts into your chat instead of switching to a website
Try asking your AI
- “What is the current price of Ethereum?”
- “Show me market data for Solana today”
- “Which networks does Codex cover for this token?”
- “Give me a quick overview of this coin's recent activity”
What it gives back to you
You get answers written in plain language, with the numbers and details pulled from Codex. Depending on your question, that might be a price, a short list of tokens, or a summary of activity on a network. It all appears right in your chat, like a normal reply from your AI. Nothing is changed anywhere, it only reads and reports.
Before you start
What you need
- A Codex API key from the Codex Dashboard (a kind of password that lets apps ask Codex for data; you get one for free when you sign up)
- An MCP-compatible app such as the Claude desktop app
- Node.js installed if you use the npx option
Good to know
The Codex API key is like a password, so keep it private and do not paste it into public places.
Install it with your AI
Add Codex MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Codex MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
People who follow crypto markets, researchers, and anyone who wants quick blockchain data without leaving their AI chat.
